expert College Essay Coaching

Signature Slay

First, a structured, three-session process designed to guide students through the Common App personal statement from start to finish:
  • Session 1 (90 min): Introspective conversation and guided visualization, then we will select the best Common App prompt, brainstorm ideas, and develop a strong outline.
  • Session 2 (90 min): Draft the personal statement with real-time feedback, refining for structure, clarity, and impact.
  • Session 3 (90 min): Finalize the essay, polish ideas, organization, and word choice, and ensure a compelling, cohesive narrative.

Throughout the process, parents receive a follow-up phone call after each session.

Then, a targeted, three-session process to support students through their supplemental (or other specific) essays.

Supplemental essays are unique to each college and can range from a 50-word short answer to an 800-word deep dive. These essays give students the chance to show why they’re a strong fit for a particular school, highlight unique interests or experiences, and articulate their goals, values, or character more fully.

Some colleges require just one supplemental essay. Others ask for several. In my experience, most students end up writing anywhere between 5 and 15 supplemental responses as part of their full application package.

This portion ensures students receive strategic, one-on-one coaching and in-depth feedback on the essays that colleges care about most–beyond the personal statement.

Throughout the process, parents receive a follow-up phone call after each session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why hire a college essay coach?

Because strong writing isn't about perfect grammar; instead, it's about honest storytelling, strategy, and voice. I guide students through an efficient, easy process that helps them reflect meaningfully and write with purpose. Hiring a coach saves time, reduces tension at home, and results in essays that truly resonate with admissions officers. Plus, I make it fun. Really!

What types of essays do you work on?

Common App personal statement, supplemental essays, personal insight questions, honors college essays, scholarship essays, and letters of continued interest (LOCI).

When should I start working on my college essays?

Ideally, the summer before senior year, but I have worked with students well into December. I work with students at all stages, from a blank page to final piece.

How long does the process take?

Some students work with me over a few months, while others just need a one-time review. I offer both packages and a la carte options.

Do you write the essay(s) for students?

I help students find their voice and tell their story as these are some of the most important written pieces they’ll ever write. I’m here to guide and elevate their authenticity.

Do you work with students across the country?

Yes! I work virtually with students all over the country (and internationally too).

Can you help if I’ve already written a draft?

Yes! Whether it’s a rough idea or a near-final draft, I offer feedback and revisions at any stage.

What if my child is not academically strong?

Essays can absolutely elevate a student's application. If your child doesn't have top grades or test scores, the essay becomes an even more important way to show colleges their strengths, potential, values, and voice. I help students tell meaningful stories that reflect who they are so they stand out for the right reasons.

What if my child is academically strong?

High-achieving students often face a different challenge: standing out among thousands of other high-achieving students. A powerful, authentic essay can differentiate your child in a competitive pool and highlight the person behind the transcript. I help students dig deep and write essays that are personal, memorable, and full of heart, not generic or overly polished.
